ok, I found a way to get past the job selection part- down in the bottom left corner, there is a rather transparent button that says 'escape'. Click it and a popup will appear. press yes and then you're free to play. (now the job selection part sometimes comes up again for me when I change clothing, so just repeat initial instructions.)
